Bayo Curry-Winchell, MD, MS is a nationally recognized health advocate who is board certified in Family Medicine. She serves as the Medical Director of Urgent Care Clinics at Saint Mary’s Health Network and the Washoe County Sexual Assault Response Team in Reno, Nevada. Dr. Bayo completed Medical School at Ross University School of Medicine and her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, concurrently obtaining her Master of Science degree. She brings her lens of advocacy and physician expertise to healthcare conversations nationwide.
Dr. Bayo is the Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Clinicians Who Care, a global, crowd-sourced list of doctors who have a reputation for listening and believing their patients. Created by and for a community of people who have struggled to get the healthcare they deserve, the list provides a starting point for finding doctors with a track record of providing warm and validating care. The platform is helping people find doctors around the world and continues to grow daily.

Dr. Bayo’s commitment to healthcare advocacy extends beyond her clinical work. She serves on numerous boards, including her 2023 appointment by Governor Lombardo to advocate on behalf of patients for Nevada’s Patient Protection Commission. She previously served on the national CDC Communications and Public Engagement Workgroup and graduated from the One Million Black Women in Business program, sponsored by Goldman Sachs and the NYU School of Business, in 2024.
Dr. Bayo is a leading expert on health advocacy with a personal mission to help people learn how to advocate for themselves in our fractured healthcare system. She is a nationally recognized public speaker and media personality who has delivered keynotes to audiences of all sizes, including large-scale events, speaking on the main stage at HLTH with Chelsea Clinton, at HLTH Europe with Amazon Pharmacy in Amsterdam, and at SXSW with Elaine Welteroth. She brings her joyful energy and passion for health advocacy to every presentation, connecting with both medical professionals and general audiences. She is known for her TED Talk, “Do No Harm,” which has garnered over 2 million views, transforming the discussion about the US maternal mortality crisis. She is a frequent speaker at events and national news outlets, a thought leader in the space, and has large social media platforms with over 300K followers across platforms providing health education – Instagram/TikTok @doctor.bayo. Dr. Bayo is also the host of the widely popular Beyond Clinical Walls podcast, where she helps people understand their bodies and the healthcare system so they can advocate for the care they deserve.
Her dedication and accomplishments have been recognized through numerous prestigious awards. Dr. Bayo was recognized as a Healthcare Hero by Nevada Business Magazine in 2022. Recently, Becker’s Hospital Review highlighted Dr. Bayo as one of the 75 Black healthcare leaders to watch, and she was recognized as one of Medscape’s 15 Top Doc Social Media Influencers for 2025.
